The leaves are beginning to turn!!
And, they no more beautiful than here..............
We are privileged to live down the road from a quaint little white German Baptist Church.
This has been, and will remain, one of my favorite places to paint.
I treasure the traditions of this religion: no TV, lots and lots of family time,
many church get-togethers, long dresses and little white caps.
I treasure the friendships I have with some of the German Baptists that live near us.
~
On Sunday mornings, especially in the summer and spring,
we can sit out on our expansive front deck,
and watch the lines of large black vans and cars stream down the road
and line up on either side of this long lane in the grassy area.
~
They gather in groups of sweet ladies and little girls, in their pretty long dresses,
and groups of men (most with long white or black beards)
and boys in their black suits and black hats.
~
Once in a while, we are privileged to
witness their gatherings for large area wide meetings.
At that time, not only is the long lane filled with
vehicles, but also the road, as groups of them
saunter down the road, cheerfully chattering away to one another,
apparently visiting between meeting times.
 ~
I honor and respect the practices they have continued over the years.
I treasure our freedom of religion in our wonderful country.
Long live the United States of America!
I am so thankful for what we have.
~
No, I am not German Baptist,
but I greatly respect differences of
religion in America.
~
I Treasure This.
~
Freedom OF religion,
not "from" religion.

    1. Yes, and in fact, I had the umbrella up because it was drizzling a bit. My first cool weather adventure for 2013. Shirley and I are planning on getting out the long-johns so we can do some snow plein air!! That will be a first!

Evening Waterfall, 5 x 5 pen and ink, landscape

Liquid Visions - 30 Paintings in 30 Days Alcohol Inks on Yupo January 31, 2014 Evening Waterfall © Donna Pierce-Clark ~ Evening Waterfall, because of the metallics used, was a bit difficult to photograph. The owner of this one will have a hard time deciding the best lighting  and where to hang it because in different angles, Evening Waterfall has varied and beautiful presentations! ~ The whole 30 in 30 all in one place........ Touch of Pink, 5 x 7 oil, still life

Touch of Pink © Donna Pierce-Clark ~ Stages of Touch of Pink ~ First the drawing.....    ~ Then, the initial paint-in, just shapes and colors. ~ Then highlights and sparkles and dots! ~ On to the large easel........ ~ ~ Above is my large studio easel, on which I have started a 24" x 36" canvas in oils. We traveled to Rainbow Bridge on a river cruise several years ago and this canvas was actually begun soon after that trip. I think this poor canvas has been neglected for at least 3 years!  I am so happy to be back to this painting.  Below, you can see a few later stages of development and the photo reference on the computer monitor, from which I paint.  Ideally, I would prefer to be painting on location;  but, I'm happy to use the computer monitor for now. ~ To the left of the easel, I also have a still life table. If I am doing a large still life, I'll use this set up and the larger easel. At this time, howev
