Clouds, 11 x 14 Oil on Canvas Panel, Landscape

Day 21
CLOUDS © Donna Pierce-Clark

"Clouds" was created as another demo for the
Thursday Plein-Air Group. What a nice group!
Each person created their own version of clouds.
~
If a student painting is "just like mine," I have failed as an art teacher.
~
They each absorbed techniques and color mixing "recipes,"
then applied them in their own personal brushstrokes.
~
Landscape Color Theory is all about making objects recede into
the background, and go "way" back into space,
while simultaneously tricking the eye
into believing that the objects
in the foreground are really "in your face!"
This helps the viewer to "feel like" they are "in the picture!"
What a wonderful thing to be able to do:
giving the viewer the joy of stepping inside of your world!
~
Wanna join us?
Space is limited!
NEXT SESSION:  OCTOBER 3, 2013
Join now, while the weather is still somewhat warm.
But, seriously, when it gets colder,
we will just bundle up
and brave it!!
So, stay tuned for some
"snow" scenes!!
~
The Reception at the Bank last night was a great success!
Although neither myself, my granddaughter, nor Rebecca sold much, my private student,
Catherine had sold three paintings by the time I left last evening.
She may have sold more after I left.
I'm so proud of my friends, my granddaughter and Catherine.
The food was absolutely amazing (thank you, Rebecca!).
As always, it was so nice to see friends and family that came to view paintings and visit.
Thank you all for coming!
Hopefully, I'll have some photos for you tomorrow!
Have a wonderful day!
Donna

Evening Waterfall, 5 x 5 pen and ink, landscape

Liquid Visions - 30 Paintings in 30 Days Alcohol Inks on Yupo January 31, 2014 Evening Waterfall © Donna Pierce-Clark ~ Evening Waterfall, because of the metallics used, was a bit difficult to photograph. The owner of this one will have a hard time deciding the best lighting  and where to hang it because in different angles, Evening Waterfall has varied and beautiful presentations! ~ The whole 30 in 30 all in one place........ Touch of Pink, 5 x 7 oil, still life

Touch of Pink © Donna Pierce-Clark ~ Stages of Touch of Pink ~ First the drawing.....    ~ Then, the initial paint-in, just shapes and colors. ~ Then highlights and sparkles and dots! ~ On to the large easel........ ~ ~ Above is my large studio easel, on which I have started a 24" x 36" canvas in oils. We traveled to Rainbow Bridge on a river cruise several years ago and this canvas was actually begun soon after that trip. I think this poor canvas has been neglected for at least 3 years!  I am so happy to be back to this painting.  Below, you can see a few later stages of development and the photo reference on the computer monitor, from which I paint.  Ideally, I would prefer to be painting on location;  but, I'm happy to use the computer monitor for now. ~ To the left of the easel, I also have a still life table. If I am doing a large still life, I'll use this set up and the larger easel. At this time, howev
